Commissioner Roger Stacy

Roger Stacy

Roger Stacy is beginning his first term as Owensboro City Commissioner. He brings with him a vast accumulation of knowledge and experience in the business world. He has served in the capacity of employee, manager and dealer principal of Chrysler dealerships in Southern Illinois, Paducah and Owensboro, Kentucky.

A graduate of Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Roger met and married his wife Betsy in 1965. The couple moved to Cave in Rock, Illinois, where they both taught school for three years; he, in the high school and she, in the middle school. After teaching he took over his father’s automobile dealership, at the time becoming the youngest Chrysler dealer in the country.

The Stacys moved with their two children to Paducah where he opened the Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge dealership in 1974. While there, Roger served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Four Rivers Boy Scout Council. He served on the Board of the Kentucky Automobile Dealer Association as well.

In 1986 the family moved to Owensboro where their daughter Stephanie and son Scott graduated from Daviess County High School. Meanwhile, Betsy took teaching positions first in the Owensboro Catholic Middle School and then at Apollo High School. Roger purchased the Chrysler dealership in Owensboro shortly after the move. He owned and operated the dealership 18 years until he sold out in 2005. After selling the Chrysler dealership, Roger became a licensed real estate agent for Castlen Realtors and a licensed agent with AFLAC. He presently continues in both capacities.

In Owensboro, Roger has taken leadership roles in the community. He served one term on the Board of Directors of Owensboro Medical Health System. An active member of Owensboro Christian Church and various service organizations, Roger helped found Community Solutions for Substance Abuse where he served as President of the Board for two terms and in other capacities with Lighthouse Recovery. His passion is for the less fortunate, homeless, and those with substance abuse issues.
